The Vernal area is rich in fabulous hiking opportunities. You’ll see Native American rock art, fossilized dinosaur footprints, natural arches, and so much more. We are proud to be the only outfitter in Vernal, Utah to offer daily guided hiking tours. Our guided hikes depart daily and take approximately 3 to 5 hours, round-trip. Call for availability and departure times. The most popular hikes we lead are McConkie Ranch, Moonshine Arch, and the Dinosaur Trackway. Each hike is family friendly — great for kids and beginner/intermediates in physical ability.
While on the McConkie Ranch hike, you’ll see one of the best collections of Fremont Petroglyphs and Pictographs in Northeastern Utah. Moonshine Arch is situated among the Weber Sandstone rock formation North of Steinaker State Park. This hike leads you to several incredible natural arches. Along the way, you’ll see incredible desert wildflowers and great views and enjoy the beautiful fresh air. The Dinosaur Trackway is a great hike that leads to the edge of Red Fleet Reservoir. Once you’ve made it to the lake, you’ll find hundreds of perfectly preserved dinosaur footprints along the rocky shoreline. It’s also a refreshing spot to take a swim.
